Get ready now to plan attending our 2018 Mississauga RCNA Convention hosted by the North York Coin Club, August 7–11, at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale, handy to the airport and major highways. Information for booking your room is available on-line at: www.rcna.ca/2018/ but for an early peek at tours we’re offering, read the following listings to be ready to book when registration for them opens Sunday, April 1. Registration will be available on-line or through a mail-in form in the April issue of The CN Journal.
Note that each tour is limited to maximum number of participants, so get yourself ahead of the rush!
Your bus leaves the hotel Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. en route to the McMichael Art Gallery and the main street of Kleinberg. At 10 a.m. you’ll have a one-hour guided tour of the art gallery followed by time to freely browse interesting exhibits there or view films with background about prominent Canadian artists. You can buy lunch at the gallery in its Aura Restaurant in the Grand Hall or you can bus to Kleinburg’s main street to buy eats at the Longchamp Pub. Following lunch, where you choose, you might explore the woodlands surrounding the gallery or visit the shops on the main street of Kleinburg. At 3:00 p.m. your bus leaves Kleinburg on return to your hotel. Search online for information about the destination sites “McMichael Gallery” and “Kleinburg Ontario.”
Tour cost of $55 includes transportation and McMichael Art Gallery admission and tour.
Your bus leaves the hotel at 1 p.m. for Artcast Foundry in Georgetown, to repeat a popular tour given our 2014 Conventioneers. Artcast Inc. is renowned for its cast sculptures and art medals, a firm with more than 50-years experience. You’ll be guided through its casting facility and other work stations by the owners and their employees who will tell you about their production and demonstrate particulars of the work done there. Your bus will arrive back at the hotel by 3:30 p.m.
Tour cost is $30. For more about Artcast, search online at www.artcast.com. This tour is limited to 29 registrants.
Your tour leaves the hotel at 4:00 p.m., in a luxury motor coach, for lake-front downtown Toronto and your evening cruise, with dinner, on Lake Ontario. A cash bar will be available. Captain Bob Muran and his crew of Escape to Charters take us afloat aboard their large luxury yacht, and they will serve you delicious food in a comfortable setting for our private tour. From the yacht, views of the city are spectacular especially near sunset. We will dock after our three-plus-hour cruise and return by bus to be at the hotel by 10:30 p.m.
Tour cost is $80, which includes transportation, on-board cruise, and food.
