Wide Variety of Tours Planned during the 2017 RCNA Convention in Boucherville, Quebec

Numerous tours and social events await conventioneers that plan to attend the 2017 Royal Canadian Numismatic Association convention in Boucherville, Quebec during the week of July 18 – 23.

 

There are so many historic sites to see in the Montreal and Boucherville area of Quebec.  This year is the 350th anniversary of Boucherville, 50th anniversary of Host Club L’Association des numismates et des philatelists de Boucherville, 375th anniversary of the City of Montreal and 150th anniversary of Canada.  The organizing committee hope that you plan to attend the 2017 RCNA convention and take part in many of the tours and social events.

Tuesday, July 18  

City of Montreal Tour    (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)                 Cost :    $ 35.00  per person

9:00   Depart Hotel Mortagne (Boucherville)

A visit to the Chateau Ramezay Museum, Head Office of the Bank of Montreal Museum and Archives and Notre Dame Basilica await you on this tour.  The Bank of Montreal is celebrating their 200th anniversary in 2017.

We will stop in Old Montreal where you will have lunch at a restaurant of your choice.

We then return back to the hotel around 5 pm.

 

Early Bird Dinner -   SCORES Restaurant  (6:30 – 9:30 pm)                      Dinner at your own expense

 

The Early Bird Dinner will take place at SCORES Restaurant.  It is just a short walk from the hotel and you can order from the large and varied menu all at reasonable prices.

We will meet in the lobby of Hotel Mortagne at 6:30 pm and walk over to the restaurant.



Wednesday, July 19 

City of Boucherville Tour   (9:30 am – 12:00 noon)        Cost :  $ 22.00  per person

 

9:30   Depart Hotel Mortagne (Boucherville)

A visit by bus to numerous historic sites in Boucherville including the Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine house.  Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine was born in Boucherville and was the first Canadian to become Premier of the United Province of Canada.  We will see Old Boucherville which is the original section of the city that contains the former village and Sainte-Famile Church.  The neighbourhood is located between the Saint Lawrence River, the boulevards of Fort Saint-Louis, de Montarville of Montbrun.   Many of the buildings are officially classified as historic monuments.

We will return back to the hotel by 12:00 noon.

Thursday, July 20

 Tour of St-Constant and Chambly, Quebec   (9:00 am – 5:00 pm)        Cost :   $ 42.00 per person

 9:00  Depart Hotel Mortagne (Boucherville)

We will go directly to Fort Chambly for a morning tour.  Fort Chambly is a designated Historic Site of Canada which was built by the French in 1711 and very worthwhile to see.

  We will then go to Chambly, Quebec for lunch at your expense at Fourquet Fourchette restaurant.  Choose from a wonderful menu and experience the great cuisine of this restaurant.  After lunch we will go for a visit to the Canadian Railway Museum in St-Constant on the south shore of Montreal.   There are guided tours of 1 ½ hours in both English and French.  This is a wonderful museum where you can travel back in time to the birth of urban transportation and re-visit the great era of the streetcars of Montreal.  Discover Canada’s history though the railways and see many of the rail cars of yesteryear.

We will return back to the hotel by 5:00 pm.
 

Friday, July 21

Bus to DIX30 Shopping Mall in Brassard, Quebec   (10:00 am – 3:30 pm)        Cost :   $ 15.00 per person

DIX30 Shopping Mall is a fabulous, modern shopping mall with dozens of stores for every interest.

We will meet at 10:00am in the lobby of Hotel Mortagne, after the complimentary Spousal Breakfast for pre-Registrants, for a comfortable bus ride to Brassard and a visit to this great shopping mall.   Lunch will be your choice in the Food Court and the bus will return to the hotel around 3:30 pm.

Dinner and Boat Cruise on the St. Lawrence River   (6:00 pm – 10:30 pm)       Cost :  $89.00 per person

 

We will meet in the lobby of Hotel Mortagne at 6:00 pm for a bus trip to a fabulous Buffet Dinner and Boat Cruise on the St. Lawrence River.  You will see many well known sites of Montreal along the way.  It is a chance to socialize with other conventioneers in a casual setting.

The buses will return to the hotel around 10:30 pm
